Streaming In Stone ~
a new CD by Jane Valencia and Starr
This collection of breathtaking, breath-giving improvisational vocal music, emerges from the deep winter landscape of mountains and rushing river, countless bright storytelling stars, and from the rocks and roots and wanderings in such a beginning place.
Some of the tracks are ancient chants. You may recognize “Porimamine, Porisamine” or “Fanga” from West Africa, or a song honoring the four directions from our own Turtle Island. There is a sweet American Shaker dance song that we all know and love (our version of “Simple Gifts”).
The songs–many without words–are expressions of the intimate connection with God/The Divine, Mystery, Mother Earth, and with one another that each of us has, and of the surprises and wonders of our journey. They are about the joyful dance of our feet on nourishing, life-giving ground, as well as of the singular embrace we each have: soul to expansive Universe, and to the Sound and Silence that heals us all when we open to the streaming in stone.
Each song is infused with healing energy, blessing, love, and our good wishes!
